I would like to thank each of you for electing me to serve as Master of Harlan Lodge #879 for the ensuing year. Harlan Lodge has a deep rooted history of preserving the symbolism and tradition which was held in high esteem by our ancient brethren. I will strive to continue these distinctions to the best of my ability.

I have several goals for the upcoming year such as providing food to "Our Brother's House" Homeless Shelter in Harlan and assisting Mike Howard (Santa Claus) with his efforts in making a memorable Christmas for many needy children in our area. Furthermore, I would like to implement a widows contact program, whereby we contact the widows of our deceased brethren and attend to their needs if we are able. There will aslo be an instructional meeting at least once a month where we can sharpen our skills to further promote the sacredness of our work. I am sure each of you will assist me in my efforts.

I would like to thank Most Worshipful Past Grand Master Percy Brown for assisting us in our open installation of officers. Percy has been a great friend to Harlan Lodge #879 for many years and we hope to have his continued support and friendship for many, many more to come. Additionally, I would like to thank Right Worshipful Deputy Grand Master Todd Eastham for taking time out of his busy schedule to be with us.

I look forward to working with you during the ensuing year. Thanks again for putting your trust in me to fill the Oriental Chair.

Duffield KT Commandry #42

We will be conferring the Master Mason Degree at a called meeting on June 30th, 2009 at 6:00 PM inthe Lodge Hall on Jerma Madden II. Potluck dinner will be served. All Master Masons are invited to attend. Please bring a covered dish.

A special called meeting has been set for July 7, 2009 at 6:00 PM for the conferral of the EA degree on three candidates. A meal will be served afterwards. All EAMs, FCMs, and MMs are invited to attend.

Our regular meeting will be the same night at 7:30 PM with the conferral of the Fellowcraft Degree. All FCMs and MMs are invited to attend.

Please keep the Casteel Family in your thoughts and prayers. Brother Kenneth Casteel Sr. passed away Sunday, June 14, 2009. He was a longtime member of Harlan Lodge. Masonic Funeral Rites will be observed by Harlan Lodge #879 at the Gravesite. We will open the Lodge at 11:30 am on Thursday, June 18, 2009 and then go to the cemetery. All Brothers are urged to attend.
